Software Defined Network and Network Function Virtualization Resources and Organizations
Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) are seen as a means to reduce both hardware and management costs while enabling more innovation and quicker deployment of networked devices and services. There are 3 types of organizations that define how to deploy NFV and SDN: Standard Organizations that typically define standard specifications, Open Source Organizations that implement Open Source Code and Hybrid Standard/OpenSource organization that both define standard specifications and implement open source code.
The Diagram and the accompanying tables below chart the landscape and entities of all three approaches. IEEE SDN is building relationship with this broad ecosystem to progress SDN & NFV work, also connecting the academic research work with these communities.
